What shooting Fremantle and Cockburn actually involves
Fremantle is the most technically demanding pocket in Perth to shoot. Character cottages and workers' terraces sit on narrow lots with almost no setback, which means there is frequently nowhere to stand to get the front elevation. Interiors are small, ceilings are high, and the original windows produce brutal contrast between a dark room and a bright street. Photograph it lazily and a beautiful limestone cottage looks like a dark corridor.
That is a genuine advantage for a vendor who picks the right supplier. The buyers in East Fremantle, Bicton and White Gum Valley are specifically buying character — the jarrah, the pressed ceilings, the limestone, the leadlight. Those details need detail shots, not just wide angles, which is exactly what an unlimited sales shoot is for.
East through Palmyra, Melville and Willagee the stock normalises into post-war family homes on good blocks, where floor plans and drone do the heavy lifting. Down through Spearwood, Coogee and Munster the blocks get bigger again and the coast comes back into play.
